Feed Your Mind With Personal Development

Having a successful and sustainable business today is probably one of the major challenges that owners can hope to overcome. Dealing with the pressures, the deadlines and the expectations of your customers can turn into a minefield of lost hopes and broken dreams if you let it.

It is all too easy to let the stresses and strains of running a business get between you and your family. In my humble opinion, your family is the one most important thing that you need to look after. The next is your health. Being a good business person is also about achieving that work / life balance that allows your business to become simply a tool to get you to where you want to go .

One of my goals as a Business Coach is to show my clients ways in which they can step back from the business and start having a life. Sure, introduce systems and strategies to work ON the business but it is also important to keep working on yourself by getting good quality information into your head. Personal development is one of the most forgotten tools in a businessman’s tool bag. Finding a good book that takes your thinking to the next level is worth thousands of dollars to the business as well as to your quality of life.

The other thing I recommend is to get some personal growth training so that your own experience grows and your business skills flourish. Its all very well learning how to create a better product and to enhance the service offerings of a business but too often business owners I talk to forget about improving the knowledge and the information inside their own heads. This not only has an influence on their business bottom line but again has a direct influence on their quality of life. Notice the trend here??

Behind every business there is a family. And if the business flourishes then that usually has a direct and positive effect on the family.

In subsequent posts of this newsletter I will introduce you to some my favourite books that have made a difference to my life as well as to my business career And some of the people that have had an influence on me to become a better person on many levels.

One of the first I will share with you is an all time classic. “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill.

I read the book myself first and I have to say I didnt get a whole lot out of it. But then I joined a mastermind group and went back through it but was able to discuss each chapter and man oh man, the world suddenly took on a whole new perspective for me..I now keep that book right beside me on my desk so when I have a quite moment or two I reach for it and just grab a couple of quick pages. Its better than coffee lol..
