A Quick History Lesson On the Origins of Business

I was chatting with a good friend of mine just this morning about the way that we do business in this era compared with the way he did business way back in the early 70′s and 80′s. How was that??? , well for a start a mans word was his bond and a handshake was as good as a sales order. When you did business with somone, you looked him in the eye and straight away you knew that that he was for real, honest and wasnt going to rip you off. As the world grew older and technology became more advanced and began to creep into every part of business, the face to face relationships started to become a thing of the past. Distance was no longer a challenge because the internet and email could see you communicating all around the world without once having to pick up the phone or actually communicate face to face..This Business to business communication has been done for a while now without anyone at either end knowing a whole lot about who was at the other end. This is when the term “internet scam” was coined and the world began to change. Now, Im a business coach and I work with bricks and mortar owners who get to see their customers face to face and if they are any good at what they do, develop long term relationships with them. How then do you bring those sort of values over to a market place as massive and as diverse as the internet? With Video.. thats how..

The Benefits of Using Video Marketing to Engage Your Clients

In the changes that are taking place inside my business I have come to realise that we once again have the chance to really get to know the people that we are doing business with and how the medium of the internet, rather than being a barrier to developing a long distance relationship,  is now in a position where it  can actually encourage it. If you are reading this and you have come this far, have a quick think about your own business.

I dont know what you sell, how many staff you have, what markets you operate in but I do know one thing and that is your customers do business with you because they feel comfortable that you have their best interests at heart. In short its about the relationship they have with you. Its all about you. On the internet its the same. If you can develop an online profile that people can relate to then your chances of succeeding are increased..

So why use Video?..because you get a chance to get your message down to a one to one level and can personalise the experience of viewing it so that that a prospective customer can feel that you are talking directly to them. This is a key concept. Read it again and understand it.

So how do you start.?

Well obviously you are going to need a video camera  to record your content. There are a number of models on the market and they all do similar things but some do it better than others.

I just bought a new Flip Video which gives me 60 minutes of High Definition video. The picture clarity is STUNNING but one drawback is the file sizes it creates. If your not used to dealing in such large video formats you will need to start developing good habits around management of those larger files.

Figure out what your message is going to be and then develop a script. (Especially if you have never spent much time in front of your camera in serious mode before.) Record the footage and then edit it using one of the applications that are out there on the market today. Go check out my resources page for some ideas   Upload it to either YouTube.com or Viddler.com and then drop the html into your sales page and then publish it to the web.

Take a look at the video I recorded below that talks about designing your Website to enhance the conversion stage of the sales process.. Which is where the money gets done hence ranks its importance in your process.If you havent got this stage going then you havent got a sustainable business.

Your web page is there to either help you create and grow a sales database or it is there to help you market to an exisiting database. And the only way it will work is if you are giving value.

Your video must give the viewer a great experience and allow them to trust you. It must be able to offer value. It doesnt need to look sharp and professional ( although it helps) but it must be honest and give a good insight into who you are as a person. In my bricks and mortar worl, people will do business with you because of who YOU are, I honestly believe it is the same online. In fact more so….
